MINNEAPOLIS — Buzunesh Deba of Ethiopia has become the first woman to win both the Twin Cities Marathon and Grandma's Marathon in Duluth in the same year.
The 23-year-old posted a time of 2:27:24 on Sunday to win the Twin Cities Marathon. The Star Tribune of Minneapolis reports she was eight minutes ahead of the second-place woman.
That was Svetlana Ponomarenko of Russia at 2:35:23. Serkalem Abrha of Ethiopia was third, at 2:36:16.
