Ethiopia’s Prime Minister in Khartoum on Official Visit

Sudan Tribune -- Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi arrived in Khartoum Wednesday on a two-day official visit to the Sudan to take part in the meetings of the Joint Higher Committee between Sudan and Ethiopia.

The meeting will begin in Khartoum on Thursday, the run-state SUNA reported. The President Omer Al-Bashir, will head the Sudanese side to the committee while Prime Minister Zenawi will head his country’s delegation to the committee.

On the other hand, the meetings of the eighth session of the joint ministerial committee between the two countries started at the Friendship Hall here Wednesday, co-chaired by Sudanese Foreign Minister Lam Akol and his Ethiopian counterpart Seyoum Mesfin.

Mesfin stressed commitment of his country to contribute to boosting the projects of development and rehabilitation, which were stipulated by the Comprehensive Peace Agreement besides supporting national unity and reconciliation in Sudan.

The Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated his country’s commitment to boosting the steps that have been taken within the framework of joint cooperation between the border states, referring to the commitment of the leaderships of the two countries to work together to strengthen the ties between Sudan and Ethiopia to realize the aspirations of the two countries.

Al-Bashir received the Ethiopian Prime Minister upon his arrival at Khartoum Airport.
