allAfrica via ENA -- Director of Pakistan investment promotion and head of the 14-member Pakistani trade delegation said Pakistani investors are keen to invest in Ethiopia.
Speaking at pharmaceuticals and medical appliances exhibition to promote Pakistani's pharmaceutical exporters here at the Hilton Hotel yesterday, Muhammad Essa Jalbani said Pakistani investors are working with their Ethiopian counterparts in various investment sectors.
Jalbani also indicated the prevalence of investment friendly atmosphere in Ethiopia.
The Director said Pakistan has been exporting pharmaceuticals, medical appliances, textiles, and agriculture products, where as the focus of Ethiopia's traditional export to Pakistan are leather, cotton coffee, and tea, oilseeds and white pea.
According to Jalbani, Pakistan has exported to Ethiopia products valued 1.87 million USD on average from 1997-2004 while Ethiopia's import was 7.5 USD in the same period.
Head of foreign trade department head with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Geremew Ayalew said Pakistani investors would look into Ethiopia's ample investment opportunities to equilibrium the trade balance which is highly in favour of Ethiopia.
