Chinese Ensemble to Visit Ethiopia

Angola Press -- A Chinese ensemble of 25 members will visit and perform in Ethiopia in August to celebrate the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Chinese embassy said here Saturday.

In celebration of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ethiopia, China Flag Song and Dance Ensemble will perform in Ethiopia, said a news release issued from the embassy.

The event is also within the framework of the implementation program for the cultural agreement between the two countries for the years of 2004-2006, it said.

The trip is co-sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Culture, the Chinese embassy in Ethiopia and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture of Ethiopia, said the release.

The ensemble is scheduled to stage two performances on August 4 and 5 in the capital Addis Ababa and the lakeside city of Bahir Dar, it said.

The release also said the performers will showcase the folk music and dance of various ethnic minorities in China, including the Tibetan, Uigur, Mongolian, Yi, Dai and Korean.
